Myself and my sister had savings accounts with them set up by our grandpa when we were children. The only paper work we have now is certificates saying we were members of The Refuge Money Bee Club with Refuge Assurance PLC. My mum tells me they were a very big insurance company.
I have done some searching and it seems they are no longer going but I cannot find anything to say what happened. Were they taken over by someone or have they gone bust (or whatever the term is, liquidation?)?
I can find references from 2000+ about them. There is mention of a legal case, MSF Union Vs Refuge Assurance PLC and another, but no details.
I'm not expecting it to be much money, grandparents weren't well off at the time (approx 20 years ago) but TBH even £20 would be nice and more than that its wanting to know! But I cant begin to trace it if I dont know whats happened to them.
