SMP and about to change jobs- NHS

I'm currently on mat leave and just about to start SMP.
I work for the NHS and am going to another Trust.
Can anyone tell me will my SMP just continue to be paid until I am ready to start my new job? Also, I was planning on using my accrued annual leave for September when my SMP runs out. Will I still be able to do this or will my old Trust just pay me my annual leave when I go- and will that affect my SMP?

TIA.

Have you asked payroll? Or the maternity leave co ordinators?
They should be able to answer those questions.

I can't get hold of them at the moment, Illness and current climate makes it hard to get hold of anyone!

I would think that your SMP would continue to be paid, as you’ve assumably worked the required hours and length of time to get it?
I know if you switch between boards in Scotland, you just carry your holidays with you, not sure how trusts in England work though.

I don't know if it's different when on maternity leave but typically when you leave a job with one Trust you are either paid the annual leave left over or you are given it, i.e. you technically finish work on the 1st but using your 2 weeks annual leave you are still employed by them until 15th so this would effect your start date with the new Trust.

What stage are you at? Have you just been given a job offer? I would think normally you would resign later from your current job to tie in with the end of your ssp. In terms of using your accrued leave for Sept, will that overlap with when you start your new job or not? You could for example resign with an end date of say 30th Sept, take ssp until 1st Sept and then AL. I think technically you could start work at a new job whilst on AL, but definitely not whilst on ssp. I'm not sure though.

Where I wrote ssp, I meant smp.

Thanks all for the replies.

I've officially accepted the job but awaiting confirmation via letter before I hand my notice in.

My new line manager thinks I can just switch whilst on smp, and also use my KIT days which will be financially handy as husband is set employed and the current climate is tricky! She thinks I can basically take september as annual leave, but did stress she'll have to talk to HR. I was more on the thinking that I should resign later from my current job. I'll have to wait and see.

I'll post back when I know as it might help others in the future.
