Claim cancelled flight money back from credit card?

Booked flights with Ryanair over Easter that obviously were cancelled. Getting nowhere fast trying to get money back keep getting sent a voucher to use within 12mth. I don't want this for various reasons.
As I booked on my credit card, am I able to claim my money back from my card insurance?

You can apply for a chargeback with them, it's worth a try

I saw somebody on TV say not to accept vouchers. Because if the business collapses they will be worthless.

I've tried to claim cancelled flights on my credit card. The credit card refused

It depends on how much the flight was. If it is less than £100 then you won't be able to claim. If it is more then press on!

Good luck with that. Credit cards are refusing to pay out. I’m battling on three fronts, TUI, travel insurance and credit card and so far all except TUI have refused to pay, and TUI just keep fobbing is off “with we’re very busy”. DH works in debt recovery and is going to begin legal proceedings on Monday if TUI don’t pay up by then.

I'm waiting for the airline I booked with for NYC in summer to go under and then hopefully claiming back on credit card. They keep offering me 'vouchers' but screw that, as I've heard they were on the verge of collapsing even before COVID (which I didn't know when I booked!)

We tried claiming back through credit cards and they refused.

Was at airport X airline advised flights cancelled & huge queues of people

Went to another airline desk, who advised if we book a flight, they would fly us the next day
Booked Business class that day
The cancelled it the next morning & was due to fly that afternoon

Credit card would not pay

Luckily I've paid the credit card off with savings

Another (3rd carrier) got us home safely

I've had my credit card for years, paid in full each month
Airlines not offering anything yet
Will try travel insurance
Makes mockery of credit card protection

I think that the credit card company will only pay if Ryan air refuse to give money or vouchers. If they offer vouchers, banks see that as the airline fulfilling their responsibilities so won’t refund.
