Getting a solicitor if moving out of shared house

Hi I’m not sure if this is the right sub forum, but just looking for some advice. Ex partner and I sold our shared flat and bought the house we are currently in about six months ago. Our relationship has since broken down irrevocably, and I’m at the point where I think I will have to contact a solicitor. He has had a big inheritance from a grandparent so will be able to afford to buy me out. How does it work with solicitors? I don’t have any money to pay a solicitor upfront, so what normally happens? Would legal fees be deducted from my share of equity in the house? Any advice from anyone who has been through this would really be helpful, thank you x
