I am interested to know what high earners do for their living and how they got to a high income? We have a joint income of 5k per month after tax and other deductions. We both work full time and have a rented property.

I’m 30, I started as a IT contractor 3 years ago on around 110k then 18 months ago started tendering for my own work and creating teams of other contractors, it’s all about relationships with clients. My business now does around 300k. The technology sector is very well paid!!

Consumer insights. A very unusual salary for my field, but i’m good at pinpointing product issues in a way that means they can be addressed efficiently. Saves the company millions each year

I'm 52 and in IT working for an intergovernmental organisation. I earn euros but the equivalent would be about 230k pounds before tax or 10k per month after tax.

I worked in IT in the UK up to 2001 and earned a distinctly average wage for the industry. I had to leave the country to get the salary I earn now.
