Universal credit. 3rd child? Unsure about the cap

Wondering if I need to notify them of my newborn.
We already receive uc for 2 kids.. 1 born in 2006, one 2018.
The this one is 2020.
I didn't think you get any additional payment for a 3rd child so do I still need to notify them? Or as one is before the 2017 cap does he not get included in the cap so would just be the younger 2?

Fwiw I don't expect any additional money but don't want to be in trouble for not adding baby to the claim?

Yes notify them. You wont receive any payments but if you claim housing costs it can make a difference to your bedroom entitlement thereforeyour rent. Also if you are claiming any SMP or MA they need to know.

Also if you ever need to claim childcare costs or disability element for the third child then you would be able to do that as long as Uc are aware of the child.

Yes, if you ever want to use tax free childcare or the 15/30 hours it's best to have them 'registered' with hmrc. Makes it much quicker and more straightforward!
