Carer's leave and working

Hi,

I am currently claiming carer's leave for my husband who has a terminal illness (stage 4 bowel cancer, he's 39).

I have the opportunity to work the odd shift here and there. I did a shift last week and have been paid over the £123 a week allowed. Do they count the £123 weekly or average it out monthly?

Will they know how much money I received? I really didn't think I would get paid that amount £140 I guess I haven't paid tax.

Feel awful now help!

I think you are meant to let them know if you go over the £123. I do not think it's averaged out but may be wrong. I would just give them a ring asap.

I assume you mean carers allowance.

It's not averaged - it just means you'll lose the allowance for that week.
