I am looking for advice for DH and myself on signing up to life cover. Where to start? What sort of cost is reasonable?

I would see a financial advisor if you need proper advice. It would all depend on your personal circumstances etc.

Yep - get an IFA to speak to you. Assurance is for your whole life (pays out after death), insurance is for a set period (eg mortgage). You get policies that only cover death and pay out nothing if you survive to the end (or stop paying) and others that pay out an amount at the end.

All depends on your needs - definitely seek proper advice.

Nah - I would read up on the Money Saving Expert website. They recommend two or three companies to go through. I used Cavendish. Martin Lewis says as you are either dead or alive, go for the cheapest option, as there are not levels of cover like there are, for example, in health cover. I did it all online, and simply, a couple of years ago. Took half an hour.
