Writing a letter to ask for sponsorship

DD(13) is about to write to numerous companies asking if they'd be willing to help sponsor her and her sporting team - they're travelling abroad next year and are looking for companies to sponsor the kit they need to wear.

I've never done this before but am trying to advise her. What things should she include in her letter?

Thanks!

Depends.
Does she want someone to pay for the kit, and have their / the company's name printed on it ? In which case she needs to explain how that will benefit the company (through advertising). How many people watch the games ? Do they get pictures in a local paper or local newsite that will reach a wider audience? How far and wide do they travel in terms of different people seeing the advertising on the kit ? Do they have a social media presence (on which the sponsorship can be mentioned) ? Do they have a programme or any other printed material that will name the sponsor ? How many people will see that ?
Can they put a banner up at home fixtures ?
Will the competition abroad get them publicity in the local press ? Is it an achievement, (playing abroad, due to the level they've reached) or just an excuse for a holiday ?

Then she needs to tell them what it will cost them to get all this advertising

or

Are they looking for companies to donate things to help them fundraise - things they can raffle and / or auction off or use as prizes in fundraisers? If they are looking for smaller donations, then it helps to say what effort the dc are putting in to fundraise too...... "We have already held a quiz night and a car wash and a cake sale and are not looking for companies to......"

or

Can they be creative, in the same way with a building project they get people to "Buy a brick" or "Buy a light switch" or "Buy a sink" or whatever (effectively asking for donations of different amounts), can they do a sort of "Buy a sock / shorts / top / hoodie" type 'shopping list' for the team" ?

Back ummm Wow!

Your feedback is incredibly - thank you. Sincerely.

Huge food for thought here and I didn't expect it. I'll get onto the coaches and ask them
Some more questions.

It's a yearly thing (DD's first time to go though) and I think that it doesn't get a huge amount of official coverage but IS a chance for teams over UK and Europe to meet and play.

I really, really appreciate your post Thanks
