what do you mean? how to have a cheap Xmas? Simples. don't spent silly money in pressies. I will only get some for the DC and be spending about 50-60 each (9 and 11 year old). nothing for the adults in the family (and I don't want anything in return either - I am not a child). We don't go crazy with food and drinks either. I skip all Xmas dos so no money spent there on drinks and taxis. Xmas isn't really more expensive than the rest of the year except the presents for the kids .

BadCop has it, really. I would also suggest buying Christmas gifts second hand (so shoot me Grin ) with the added benefit of it being better for the environment. I usually buy my DCs second hand books, tech, games, craft kits, toiletries (bath bombs and similar from charity shops), clothes, and even obviously used (in as much as they're relieved of all the plastic packaging, but otherwise in nice condition) eBay bundles of LoLs and Sylvanians. DC are fine with second hand items, we buy pretty much everything throughout the year (bar underwear and white polo shirts for uniform) second hand for environmental reasons. I only exchange one token gift (usually something we would buy anyway, and yes, 9 times out of 10 second hand) with DP but not with any other family members.
We also save on food by only buying Christmassy food for Christmas Day, not endless grazing for the whole period.
