My current employer is not paying their contribution towards my pension upon further investigation they are taking money from my pay and not paying that into the pot. Where do I stand with this?

How big is the company? Is there an HR department? Have you spoken to them? Or to the payroll department?

northernmonkey1010 · 01/10/2019 16:14

Around 130 employees. Payroll have stated they don't hAve to pay it every month they can pay it installments which I believe is BS. The hr department are not helpful at all and are passing the book back to payroll who are also useless never pay us on time and wages are always wrong

How long have you worked there?

How long since they last paid money in, either yours or theirs?

Here is some information on when when they have to pay the pension scheme. There's a bit if leeway but not very much:

If you're not getting paid on time as well, it might not be payroll incompetence - sounds like they don't have the money?

Call ACAS. They can point you in the right direction for how to handle it.

hiddenmnetter · 01/10/2019 16:56

It’s a breach of contract - your pension is part of your remuneration for your labour. How to handle it is a different question- you need to consider your relationship with them and the likelyhood of them paying you and if you want to keep working, but you can, in theory, sue them for missing wages.

That's terrible.
In my company it is my responsibility to pay the pension company.
They have to receive the money by the 22nd day of the month following on from payroll deductions and the schedule has to be emailed to them so they can then invest the money correctly.
I would ring the government number below or your pension company and ask them direct.

You should speak to The Pensions Ombudsman who will be able to advise you and guide you through making a formal complaint. You could also report your employer to The Pensions Regulator.
