Universal credit and postgraduate loans

Evening all!

Needed some advice or to find out if anyone has been through a similar situation.

I work full time and also receive UC, my LO goes to nursery full time. I would like to resume my Masters degree ( I interupted my studies when I got pregnant). I took out a postgraduate loan from the government but didn't receive it all due to interupting my studies. If i enrol back on my course will this money that I receive be deducted from my UC every month. If so then, I'm wondering if there will be any point me going back right now because I won't be able to afford it.

To complete my postgrad course I need to pay £2100, however the remianing loan that I am yet to receive is £1700, which means I will have to make up the £400 short fall. On top of that if I receive the rest of my loan, my UC (which really helps with my childcare) will be reduced.

Just wanted to find out if this was accurate and if anyone had experienced this before.

I'm thinking my best bet would be to put the course on hold (again) and save up for a few years so that my UC isn't affected.

Hi, if the course is part time then the loan will not be taken into account. If it's full time, then 30% is counted as income but because it's squashed into affected APs, it might be more than you think.
