Any tips on making money on matched betting?

DH is suddenly interested in matched betting after a senior colleague told him that he made a significant amount of money over three months with matched betting.

So far he has invested about 250 pounds and countless hours looking at graphs! ( not made a profit yet I think). It's painful to watch. We can of course do with the extra income.

Please share any tips or advice if you have any. Thanks in advance

He is doing something wrong if he has invested £250 and not made any money! And what graphs is he looking at? I have been doing it just short of 12mths and have made £5,500. Admittedly I haven't been doing much these last 2 or 3 months so it could have been more.

There is a huge thread on matched betting on this forum, have a look for that, it contains loads of information. He can also have a look at Team profit, they have a free to join website and a facebook page, both are excellent.

@HilaryBriss Have you lost any money?

HilaryBriss · 14/08/2019 16:49

If you do it properly, you will not lose money - it isn't gambling. That said, I have lost 20 or 30 quid, mainly due to my own errors and me not following the guides to the letter.

IMO the best way to do it is to join profit accumulator or odds monkey for their odds matching tools and automatic placement of lay bets.

As Hilary says, if you do it properly, you don't lose money**...it is not gambling.

Caveat to**: you may lose less than a pound on a £10 qualifying bet but you gain it back on the free bet - if he has done his research properly he will understand the concept, if he doesn't then he should not be doing it - anything else is gambling which is dangerously addictive.

Join Oddsmonkey. Follow the guides. I’ve made £25 today alone :)

Join Team Profit on Facebook - lots of daily advice etc.

Thanks all! He says he's not making any money. He is not one to follow rules however and thinks he knows better generally. I'm going to have a look at the other thread!

He should be making money and he shouldn't need to look at graphs. Otherwise he's doing it very wrong!

small2018 · 15/08/2019 11:03

I've make around £500 a month from MB. You need to join oddsmonkey and follow the guides. Also join the Team Profit FB group.

So I've shared this information with him. He says it's not matched betting but spread betting! Urrgh! I clearly don't have a clue.

I don't understand either unfortunately but thank you all very much.

I have no idea what spread betting is either.
Another £20 up for me today. Had a small float so its slow going but building up nicely :)

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/08/2019 14:35

I know what spread betting is, 80% of accounts lose money.

NoBaggyPants · 17/08/2019 14:41

This is a terrible idea, especially for someone that doesn't follow rules. Please be careful OP, he shouldn't be investing any money that you can't afford to lose.
