Advice about universal credit and redundancy please!

Hi!

Hoping someone in the know might be able to help me out here.

My partner and I claim universal credit. I work 16 hours, he works (worked) 40. Our 18 month old son goes to nursery for 2 days a week (while we are both working) and we claim the childcare element back from UC, which is 85% of childcare costs refunded. We are both also on fairly low incomes so we are also entitled to a bit of help. We usually get around £500 a month.

My partner has just been told he will be made redundant and will finish work tomorrow. He also won't get a redundancy payout for 4-6 weeks, when we were expecting his usual wage on the 25th.

We pay nursery in advance and our next bill is due on 28th July for August.

I expect I need to call and speak to someone directly, but should I cancel the childcare? I need to give 1 months notice anyhow but I'm guessing we won't be able to claim this back without him working? Also, when his wage does not go through HRMC I'm guessing this will affect our claim also.

Basically any advice?

He needs to claim job seekers allowance via universal credit.
When I was made redundant, I had to attend the job centre once a week at s time that they gave me & show proof that I had been applying for jobs
He needs to provide his letter of redundancy & his P45
He will need to contact the universal credit about a change of circumstances
