I have pernicious anaemia as well. We can take all the B12 in the world and it won't get absorbed into our system. We need those very painful injections or we will literally die.

Fun fact time! People used to die from pernicious anaemia, then they came out with eating raw liver as a treatment, then they improved that so sufferers would drink bile.

I'm fairly certain that either aloe or essential oils will likely work just as well as the injections though.

Your shitty energy drinks do not work on us, i'm guessing the levels of B12 in them are negligible anyway. They also have caffeine which isn't great for iron absolution, so not really something to be marketed as healthy. It's your average Red Bull except much more expensive. Better to buy the cheap energy drinks. Unless it's Cherry Relentless, that is really tasty, the best energy drink in the world.

My burner account has been flooded with mlm spam today via the inbox. Lots of bank holiday offers, opportunity offers so I don't let my kids down this Christmas.

Must be so empowering owning your own business and having to sit spamming people on a bank holiday weekend who are just enjoying some time off from their J.O.B.

Sign me up Karen

Hello there,

Phew, this is a long thread and I’m a bit lost trying to read through it as it seems to be mostly discussing specific individuals?

I’d be grateful if anyone could point me in the direction of some good links with a clearly written explanation why MLM ‘businesses’ don’t work. The only one I’ve found so far was mostly in Spanish so I found it hard to follow.

I’m in Ireland so I cannot access the BBC i-player video posted at the beginning of the thread.

I’ve a family member I really want to help but I know they won’t listen to me.

Grateful thanks in advance.

JasperRising · 24/08/2019 16:32

SconeofDestiny this is a good blog from someone who was in an MLM detailing their experience. ellebeaublog.com/poonique/

And this is a good page to try and get someone in an MLM questioning how their business is going. botwatch.blog/2016/02/12/are-you-in-an-mlm-having-doubts/

Depending what stage they are at, they may not be ready to hear what you have to say. Which is why the second blink is good in case they are having some doubts they are afraid it say. Be prepared for them to cut you out as a hater...

Others will probably have better links with more detailed stats and analysis but those are the two I know.

9dartfinish2nd · 24/08/2019 16:43

@SconeofDestiny If you don't mind me asking, what is the company your relative is involved with?

There are a number of people on here with insights into various MLM's not just Forever Living who feature prominently here.

SconeofDestiny · 24/08/2019 19:17

@9dartfinish2nd
It's Neals Yard Beauty stuff and it's organic, vegan, blah, blah, blah. Hmm
I think it's an MLM company but what would I know?

JasperRising · 24/08/2019 19:23

Ah, that is one of the tricky ones I tend to think because it has a legitimate product and business model outside the MLM arm. However, I believe that the rate of failure for reps in the MLM side is still as crazy high as in pure MLM companies.

Spongebobette · 24/08/2019 19:56

I don’t know how Neal’s Yard reps make any money
I like the products and stock up when Waitrose has a third off, every three months or so
How can a bot complete?

Twentytwentyhindsight · 24/08/2019 21:00

Broke's got a new side gig to his snake oil. Looks like some pyramid referral scheme for insurance advice...

SSDGM · 24/08/2019 21:33

Hasn’t he done that sort of crap before. It was called Bounce or something last time.

Twentytwentyhindsight · 24/08/2019 21:45

Yeah, he's "returning to it after a years break because it's absolutely stunning".

He's having his will done- that should take all of a second...

JasperRising · 24/08/2019 21:47

@SconeofDestiny it's a few years old now but here is some information from a former Neal's yard rep: timelessvie.wordpress.com/2016/05/22/im-400-down-and-cant-see-how-on-earth-to-make-it-back-an-ex-bot-from-neals-yard-speaks/

Unfortunately it doesn't look that good for their reps...

This is quite a good breakdown of why MLMs don't work (and it's in English!): www.talentedladiesclub.com/articles/thinking-of-joining-a-mlm-read-the-truth-behind-the-income-opportunity/

Whiterangey · 25/08/2019 09:25

Does anyone else boycott shops which also have an MLM side?

I won't buy from the body shop anymore because it's supporting an MLM company.

It's a tough one because they do provide real jobs in their shops, but they are also harming the women who sign on to shill it on the MLM side.

Spongebobette · 25/08/2019 09:30

Oooof I suppose I should stop buying Neal’s Yard then 😢

9dartfinish2nd · 25/08/2019 09:35

@SconeofDestiny My take on Neal's Yard is that they see themselves as the respectable side of MLM along with the likes of Avon and Bodyshop at Home.

You may need to be very cautious though because if your relative has already been "sold the dream" then they could easily distance themselves from you and maybe even cut you out of their life.

BethanyBarleywater · 25/08/2019 09:37

I'm willing to be corrected but what possible value could Salon bot get/give from taking a midnight training call from Samoa? You are not changing lives, you are selling coffee.

Maranello4 · 25/08/2019 09:41

Long time lurker here. Smile Am interested to see that Neals Yard and The Body Shop are popping up now. I'm the same, in that I boycott those who have an MLM arm. Was invited to a BS at home party recently. I was surprised to see how little they knew about what an MLM is, most had never heard of it and saw little harm in going along to a party to buy some white musk, feeding on nostalgia days of this and fuzzy peach....The fact that both of these are supposedly ethical companies makes it even worse imo.

soccerbabe · 25/08/2019 10:07

even the MLMs with decentish products - it's the same old same old - turning the reps into customers, pressurising the reps to see anyone they know as a walking cashpoint...an ex usborne rep I chatted to online made the same point as in the linked article - that because of postage etc costs it's very very hard to make any profit.

SnoogyWoo · 25/08/2019 13:44

What happened to PHD’s huge announcement this morning lol.

Spongebobette · 25/08/2019 14:30

Honestly, how RUDE of her.

When you make an appointment, put it in your diary and don’t let people down

SnoogyWoo · 25/08/2019 16:08

Hahaha

SaucySausageSandwiches · 25/08/2019 17:22

Bruv’s IG stories are a laugh today - in one he unwraps an actual whole huge stack of C9s and then a few stories later says there’s only 3 in stock... yeh right 🙄

Whiterangey · 25/08/2019 17:36

OMG at those C9's and Fit 15's. There looks like there are at least 100 of them, if not more. That's £10,000 worth of stock, maybe more.

Him saying there are only 3 left in stock I imagine is to give the impression that the others have been sold or were for customers.

I would hazard a guess that they are Castle's and a girl needs to qualify for the global rally and a cheque so is garage qualifying.

That amount of C9's and Fit 15's brought me out in chills, which isn't an easy thing to do today.

There is no way that they have customers for all of them, no way. I imagine those are already listed on ebay at a lower than normal price to try and get rid of them.

I think there are much more than 100, this is insane.

Tupperwarelid · 25/08/2019 17:50

Looks like he’s in a warehouse. Is there a distribution centre in London?

gotmychocolateimgood · 25/08/2019 17:54

I love the way that Bruv is continually exposing Castle in his posts. First the overstock of pro planners and now the c9s and f15s. He seems to be quite lacking in self awareness... Unless he's actually trying to show her up?
