Universal Credit - joint claim to single claim

Hi. My friend is on UC with a joint claim with her partner, and with 2 kids. He left this weekend so she is changing her claim to a single claim. She wants to know if she will have to wait 6 weeks again for her money like she did at her first claim? Thank you.

I've been told that no, she doesn't have to reclaim they just split the claims, she needs to message on her journal. She may not get the full housing element if she still has him on the tenancy though (assuming she is renting) so its worth trying to sort that ASAP.

No she can report a change of circumstances on her journal and then the claim will change to being a single claim. he will need to make a new claim if he still qualifies for UC.

That's brilliant thank you both.

I don't think he will qualify on his own.

She is a council tenant so needs to get him off the rent anyway.

Hi, I’m in the same predicament.
do you know if her next payment was a single person payment or still based on the previous joint?
TIA
