Universal credit and 5 week paydays

Hi everyone! Just a quick question.
I work at a job where I get paid the last Friday of every month. Wage not salary. I’m a single parent as well. On a 5 week payday I get paid more than normal, obviously because I’ve had to wait a week extra, I don’t get paid MORE because it’s a 5 week payday as my hours are set every month due to me being a parent and needing set hours. But after a 5 week payday universal credit will pay me less the next month because my initial payday was more than normal. Is this right? Even though I’m not on more money? I’m so confused by all of this I could be wrong but I think I need to speak to them about it. As my income has not gotten bigger in the slightest. Sorry I get confused with this they don’t make
It simple do they! Thanks in advance Smile

Your Uc payment is based on whatever amount is reported to HMRC during your assessment period. It balances out, on the four week months you will get more Uc. You just need to plan when the five week months will be.

Its a known thing with UC. 5 week month you will get less UC so you need to budget. At least you'll be able to plan for the months this will happen, shoulr be 3 or 4 a year.

Thankyou! It’s been happening for a few years now but I’m not the best at working things out, and I just thought with all the mistakes they’re making with peoples payments it would be best to make sure it’s legit x
