Payday loan claims - success

If anyone has had payday loans in the past that you struggled to pay back or continued to roll over I would recommend you to put in a complaint against them to see if you are due any compensation or refund

I had payday loans from 6 years ago, a substantial amount which with other bank loans meant I was in debt to the tune of £25,000. I finally paid it off in January this year with the help of step change and whilst I was browsing money saving expert saw a section on claiming against these companies through their resolver platform.

To date I have had £850 from Halifax, NatWest £400 due to unfair bank charges while I was in financial difficulties. £800 from Quickquid and I have claims in against lending stream, Wonga and wage day advance.

I didn’t think of claiming anything while I was paying back the loans, probably because I was terrified of anything disrupting the DMP but I am so happy that I did.

Resolver for anyone that doesn’t know is totally free and has suggested templates for your type of complaint, I really didn’t think I would get anything back so anything is a bonus Smile

From what I've seen of resolver it's very very easy to start a claim too.
Worth a try for everyone who has used payday lenders. Takes minutes.

Yeah it really did, it took about 7 weeks for a response but you can escalate through the platform if necessary.

You can also use it to check ppi on previous loans too even if you don’t have all the information

Thank you so much for this. I've just done this and got back money already

More people can get a refund than you'd think (see the link) on these loans. The rules are pretty favourable to borrowers, as my sister found out.

HollowTalk · 21/06/2021 17:09

@Lubis13 Why are you linking to a payday loan company?

choirmumoftwo · 22/06/2021 00:02

The refunds you get are tiny though in relation to the true amount they should pay you. It's been around 4p per £1 in my experience. Better than nothing I suppose.

JoanneMB · 22/06/2021 07:54

@choirmumoftwo that is only in some cases where the lender end up insolvent

choirmumoftwo · 22/06/2021 09:06

Most of them are now in administration.
