Tax credits cut me off

Tax credits cut me off with no warning !!! I'm so pissed off - I owe £60 a week childcare and I usually get £55 towards it . This week I've been sick in work so only worked one shift (£68 made ) and my Creche was £60 so effectively I earned £8 !!! I wouldn't have been so bothered if they had sent me a letter saying when it was due to change or stop so I could make out care arrangements for my son . I've been on maternity leave all last tax year so I'm allowed £4000 off my income that I submit to tax credits but obviously they haven't taken any of that into account . I only earn £7000 a year x

Have you called them? That's bad to just cut you off.
Mine went down the other week as they issued my renewal declaration using incorrect figures.
You need to call them and see why theyve just stopped

How do you get £55 towards it ? Tax credits only pay up to 70%.

looneyloo88 · 17/05/2019 20:32

I think it was made up of money towards Creche fees and money I would get regardless if my child was in Creche /or money owed from
Backpayments maybe

Sorry I didn't mean I get £55 purely towards Creche , it's just that's what I get and I treat that as my Creche fund

Have you found out why you've been cut off?

MyDcAreMarvel · 17/05/2019 21:21

Ah that makes sense, have you done your renewal yet? It may resolve itself then .

nwybhs · 17/05/2019 21:25

Are you sure it doesn't tell you on the reward letter you got last year? A friend of mine had her tax creds drop by £200 last month, she phoned them to ask why only to be told it was on her renewal award last year. The payments were £xxx until April then £xxx.

SteveTheSpiderPlant · 17/05/2019 21:26

Coukd it be that last years income would have included a portion of Maternity leave so your income would have been lower than this years income?

looneyloo88 · 17/05/2019 22:26

I havnt had the renewel yet , just phoned them and they said my income they had was £7100( as is on my p60 they received from my work ) so the amount I gave them last April was with my maternity taken off already but they obviously haven't changed it so I've had to change it again . She said it can take 8 weeks to resolve . Just a nightmare as I've got to take my baby out of Creche until it's sorted again 🤦‍♀️😭
