Please could someone help - Child tax Credit overpayment appeals

Hi all I hope this thread is still active?

We have just had a 4K over payment through due to child disability rate dropping.

I did ring and tell them the date the disability element level is was dropping but got told to call back on or after that date.

Since then I never called back as my father was diagnosed with cancer and had to care for him along with arranging my wedding last minute so he could walk me down the isle (unfortunately he never made my wedding date, he passed 2 weeks prior)

The last thing on my mind was to call back in with all this going on

So my question is, is it worth appealing on these grounds or am I just wasting my time

Thanks all in advanced x

Sorry for your loss, but i don't think you can appeal.

Surely when you realised you hadn't called (fair enough with everything else going on) you should have been putting aside the extaa money you knew you were no longer entitled to.

Unfortunatly, you have received more than you were entitled to and it needs to be paid back

Hi

I am so sorry for your loss, but unfortunately I dont think you will be able to appeal.

Though your grounds are very sad and it's understandable calling Tax Credits wouldn't have been your priority, but you have been overpaid money that you weren't entitled to. £4000 is alot!

Im sure they will take sympathy and organise a suitable repayment plan for you, but I dont think you would win should you choose to appeal
