Just doing a lazy credit check, making sure I have no one stealing my identity! As it anyone would want to but that's a whole other thread!

Anyway have just found a £7k CCJ from December 2018! Have no bloody idea where or what's it's from!! It's logged to address I've not lived in for over 18 years!

Feel sick, how can that even happen? I don't even know if any debts I could have run up!

Anyone have any advise where to go, who to ring. Typical I've found out on a Friday just before the weekend so I bet everything is closed!

Think you have the year wrong? Not that that's relevant!

abracadabraba · 05/04/2019 18:37

Have you applied or been rejected for any credit recently?

abracadabraba · 05/04/2019 18:38

What site did you find it on?

Samind · 05/04/2019 18:39

I used clearscore and it was able within a few days to bring up my information and what I owed to who. Might be a case of mistake though. Do you use any credit score apps?

SailorJerry13 · 05/04/2019 18:39

After 6 years it is statue barred so I wouldn’t worry about it too much, it shouldn’t affect your credit rating too much x

slipperywhensparticus · 05/04/2019 18:41

2018? And you haven't lived there for 18 years? What was it for?

PotteryLady · 05/04/2019 18:43

I think op means that a CCJ was registered in her name last year at a property she lived in 18 years ago.

Perty01234 · 05/04/2019 18:45

Could it be fraud OP? If it’s on your file from Dec 18 but an address from18 years ago I would suspect someone has used your name at a previous address to claim credit?

Yes that's what I mean, apologies if it didn't make sense. I haven't lived at the address listed on the CCJ for 18 years. But the CCJ judgement date is December 2018!!

I mean WTF!

It's on Noddle.

The more I think about it, and believe me I'm thinking about it non-stop, the more I realise it's got to be identity theft!

Doesn't it?

£7.5k isn't the sort of debt you forget and it's obviously fairly recent, December 2018.

Plus why is it logged at an address I've not lived in for 18 years! It's gonna completely spoilt my weekend until I can phone the courts and hopefully find out who the creditor is.

Having looked online it appears I have to apply to "set it aside" that costs a few hundred in itself.

Feel sick and gobsmacked this can happen!!

I think if it's fraud there is no set aside cost plus if you weren't informed at your current address they can't enforce that on your credit record. It's an odd one and I think it would be okay

littlebillie · 05/04/2019 21:33

Look on Experien they are very good

SisterhoodOfKahn · 05/04/2019 21:38

@littlebillie If I look on Experian that will
Show I have a CCJ but I don't think it will identify who the creditor is.
