Investments once mortgage free

We have an offset mortgage as DH is a contractor. We're now fully offset and will soon have enough of a buffer in savings in case DH doesn't work to start putting money in other investments.

What investments after ISAs and pension contributions though? DH is a higher rate tax payer, I pay the standard rate.

Keep using your annual ISA and pension allowances. If you've already maximised for the current tax year have you got any unused pension allowance from the past 3 years to carry forward? New tax year on 6th April isn't far away.

After ISA and pension, the other main tax wrappers are Investment Bonds, Venture Capital Trust (VCT) and Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS). You should take proper advice before going in to these though really.
