Care home fees and assets

Can anybody tell me if a person has to go into care, is it just their individual assets that are assessed, or will their partner's be included?

Anything solely in their name will be fully included. Anything in joint accounts or ownership half will be included.
However, if they jointly own a house the other partner can remain in the home and the value of the house is disregarded.
