Statutory maternity pay

Hi,
Very confused at the mo.
I have just revived my first month of stat maternity and it’s a lot lower than I expected . It’s working out at £121.22 p/ w . I thought stat pay was currently 144 p/w. Have I been underpaid ? As surely I wouldn’t have to pay a lot of tax or Ni on such a small amount. Any advice appreciated Thanks

Need more info. This is complex.

Are you paid 1st to last of month on 15th or something else?

15th Month , paid 2 weeks in arrears and 2 weeks in advance.
Should have payslip by tmr so will have more info on deductions .

Yes 122 seems low then. Mine was 116 as i was pt befpre on a low weekly wage. I am thinking yours is likely ni and maybe pension contribution then...best to get in touch with employer

I've just recently been given into on SMP as that's all our employer gives out.
Its £145 a week BEFORE all deductions, including NI, Tax and Pension. Depending on how big your pension % is 122 doesn't seem too far off. But best to just check with them. You're lucky to have received such a great pay so far. I wish more companies did that.
