On the 10th of November we transferred a balance of around £3.5k from mbna to HSBC. This is our only debt apart from mortgage (if that makes any difference).
On the 25th our mbna account was still active with £3.5k on as well as this new HSBC account with the corresponding amount. Husband spoke to both companies, HSBC said it was an issue at their end and they'd get back within 10 days. They didn't. On the 7th he called again and they claimed that they had no knowledge of a previous call so he raised a complaint. Having heard nothing he's just called again and they've basically said that they will sort it within 8 weeks from the complaint on the 7th (which he wasn't told on the phone on the 7th).in the meantime we have two credit cards being paid off which we should end up in credit on the old one once HSBC has paid them back but obviously its putting financial strain on us in the meantime.
Is there anything we can do about this? Do we really have to wait 8 weeks for them to sort this out?! By the time that they do it would be 3 months since we transferred the balance!
