DWP Compliance Interview

hi everyone,

today i received a letter asking me to attend an interview at my local job centre as there may be changes that affect my benefits. it has asked my to bring along ID and bank statements. it was signed by the compliance department. i am currently receiving PIP, ESA and housing benefit. i recieve these due to bipolar, eating disorder and horrific anxiety. there are no recent changes apart from receiving £1000 compensation lately for an incident.

i have read a lot online saying these meetings are usually called due to either an accusation made against a person (fraud), just a random spot check or to check on your disability.

have any of you had this and what was the reason for it? many thanks.

I have had a compliance check on my tax credits award for year ending April 2020.
The outcome is 'we don't need to change the award'....
And in the letter it was stated that because I didn't sent information they requested, a statement was also said 'However, I have checked the information we hold and decided I don't need to change your award'.

I didn't receive a letter in the first instance requesting any information or that a check was being made but I am confused because I have since noticed that there are no future payment dates for my tax credit payments?

The letter also advises me if I have an adviser acting on my behalf to show them this letter. I don't have one because I didn't know this was going on.

It's Easter Good Friday and the tax offices are closed until Tuesday 14 April and I am having a melt down as to what this all means?

Can Anyone a help or offer some advice if this has happens to them or what this may mean????

Many thanks

Hello what if you do not recieve bank statements?

I had a telephone interview on these lines 2 years ago. The interviewer was very nice and told me what it was about. They had received some information from HMRC and wanted to clarify certain facts about a disability benefit I was on. I had gathered all the documents requested and I answered the questions fully and truthfully. He asked what bank accounts I had and I opened online banking while on the phone and told him the exact amounts (down to the exact pence) in each of my accounts. I asked if he needed statements as I do not get paper statements and the bank charges. He said they might ask me to sign a form giving them permission to approach the bank but that never happened. I never heard anything more from them.

As one of the posters in this forum has pointed out, sometimes they are simply checking out apparently conflicting info they have got from another agency such as HMRC, local council records, etc.

Hello what if you do not recieve bank statements?
If you have an account, you will get statements even if they're online.

If your bank is a digital one like Starling, you can generate a statement any time you like, in the app.

Hi I have received a compliance intereview letter from the DWP when they ring do they tell you why they have rang? eg that I have cashed in some shares (£892) (which I did), and a small pension (£132)or any other instance? I can not sleep and am so sick as I have suicidal thoughts from my Bipolar - any help would be great. JLx

How long does it take to hear back after compliance interview.

How long does it take to hear back after compliance interview.

i sort of knew then and there that the gentleman interviewing me believed what i was saying and nothing was taken any further. he just reminded me to let them know ASAP if my circumstances changed - ie, boyfriend moving in, change of income etc. that was when i posted this topic and i have never had anything since.

i did find out over the years it was just a bitter ex trying to cause me bother by calling the DWP and saying my new boyfriend had moved in when he definitely hadn’t lol! he stayed over and i stayed at his, but we have since separated.
