Camper van hire company not returning my deposit

Hi

Just that really.

Legally where do I stand with this? No problems with the camper on return, he just says it’s going through the system.

It has been 17 days since we returned it. How long is reasonable?

Your OP isn't clear.

Are the actively saying they will not return It?
Or
Have they just not returned it yet?

Have you asked them about It?

I had that for 3 months. They sent various emails saying they were processing the refund, in the end I had to complain to the credit card issuer. But that doesn't sound like a long time - 6 weeks isn't unusual.

Sorry for confusion. I have asked a couple of times, he said it’s going through the system, not that he’s withholding it.

He has been unpleasant from the off, and very unhelpful with anything I ask. I wanted to check he wasn’t being difficult, if the refund process takes that long.

It’s £850 sat on my credit card.

Leafyhouse, it sounds like I’m in for a long wait then.

If it's your credit card, get in touch with your provider and get it back through them.

At the very least your card provider can tell you how long you need to wait before they step in; you can then send the hire company a final email telling them that they have until x date to repay the deposit, after that you will push forward with the chargeback.
