any reason to keep my landline?

Hi,
I wasn't sure where to post this but as it's down to me looking for ways to save money I thought here!
Are there any reasons that I should consider keeping my landline? I pay for it every month but never really use it and people I know just phone me on my mobile really.
I occasionally use it but rarely.

It would just be good to hear in case its a bad idea for whatever reason to not sign up for it but just sign up for broadband this time around (contract ending).

Thanks,
Lisa

I can't get broadband without a landline where I am. What's the situation by you?

It's frustrating as I don't even have a phone connected to it.

I think some companies offer broadband without landline but it costs more and no saving there!

I'm with Virgin and we have to pay for line rental if we have broadband. I wish we could get rid of it too.

I’m with virgin and do not have a land line. Trust me, they are LYING about needing it. I only got my way because I threatened to leave

It depends on the type of broadband you can get. I thinm with fibre you don't always need a landline.

BT owns most of the lines. Non -bt providers using their lines need to pay BT for them, which is why they charge line rental.

Yep I’m with virgin too and we don’t have a landline

No reason at all if you can get broadband without a landline (e.g. virgin)

We have virgin TV and broadband. To get the LL is cheaper than to not have it. It’s the “value” of a bundle I guess. Same when we were with Sky. If you don’t want the TV then I think it works out better not to have the LL, just the BB.

If you have to have the landline to have broadband then shop around. If you pay yearly for the line rental you can get it a bit lower cost than if you pay monthly - PlusNet call this LineSaver, other providers may call it something different, ask them about it and what calls package they do (you want the cheapest calls package, ideally no calls at all).

I cancelled my landline 8 years ago and use virgin for fibre optics broadband.

I pay a bit to much for my broadband really but the mobile is cheaper with them as I have both. It’s £47 a month for 50 broadband and the mibilev1200 minutes, untilmeted text and 4mb which they pass on to the next month if I don’t use.
