CCJ just cleared, will it stop me renting now?

Hi

My marital home sold a month or so ago, and i used some of the equity to clear the marital debt in my name.

After our separation 6/7 years ago my ex defaulted on a joint loan. The loan was than sold on and split into 2 separate debts. I didn't know any of this at the time as my ex changed my address to his own.

It was only when i put together my Form E for a Hearing in Family Court that i found this out and that i'd got a CCJ against my loan.

I'm staying with my Mum at the moment, but am now thinking of finding somewhere to rent.

What i'm worried about is will the CCJ still be on my record, and will it stop me renting? Have never rented before, and just don't know.

Thank you.

a ccj may well cause issues with a credit check. as always the solution is to see the other sides problem and then tell them how it isnt a problem.le

a landlord will see a debt and knows that once a tenant is in, they can stay for some months paying no.rent - so it will make a landlord nervous. the solution may be to offer a guarantor.

speak to the agent before applying so you dont waste money on checks that wont pass.

and please.read the how to rent guide on gov.uk. too many tales on here of dodgy landlords and agents taking advantage of those that dont know their rights.
