SMP and a new job

I am about to start maternity leave and will be claiming SMP. We have looked at our finances and i may need to go back to work before my SMP is due to end. I am assuming that my SMP will stop when I start work again though, which then would raise the question if it's worth going back to work for a few hundred (after childcare etc) Does anyone know? Thanks

Yes it stops when you go back to work

Many people struggle to break even when factoring in childcare costs so it really depends how much the extra is worth to you. Are you receiving any pay over and above smp from your employer or continuing any benefits ? SMP stops when you start working or after 39 weeks ml.
