ESA to universal credit

Anyone transitioned from income-based ESA to Universal Credit?

I'm currently on income-based ESA and moving to an area which comes under Universal Credit.

However, I'm in the support group and I receive severe disablement allowance & disability income guarantee.

I've phoned Universal Credit who were less than helpful and didn't really seem that knowledgeable.

From what they've told me, I would have to claim Universal Credit to replace my ESA.
But they only have two groups: Limited work capability & Work capability and I can only be placed in either of these two groups.
Apparently, I would receive £328.32 per month & £251.77 per month for being under 25.
This means I would be £200 worse off every month.

Hold on Government, what happened to transitional protection?

I've just migrated a person over from ESA whom was in the support group.

With UC, there are three groups. LCWRA and LCW then the work related activity group.

You're moving to a new area? Transitional Protection is available to people whom are on a managed migration to UC.

I'd suggest calling ESA and asking them if you'll qualify for transitional protection.

The person I supported through this was on a managed TO migration until the full assessment under UC had taken place. That took 5 months.

Your support group status should automatically entitled you to the LCWRA element of UC - quote regulation 19 if it is not applied.
You are moving because of a change of circumstances therefore I don't think transitional protection will apply. There is currently no severe disability premium on UC ( as there is on ESA ) but this may change as there has been a bit of an uproar about it.

I would try like hell not to move.
