I know the obvious one is not to go in the first place but lets do some GENERAL tips for saving money when you are away from home.

English Heritage membership-free entry/parking/discounts
National Trust Membership-free entry/parking/discounts
Use Tesco/Nectar vouchers for free entry to places
Look for local discount cards/vouchers in those leaflets that are everywhere

If your self catering buy picnic things for the fridge and take a picnic on your days out.
Have a look at lastminute.com or 365tickets.com for cheap discount vouchers.
If you dont fancy any of the deals from tescos vouchers sell them on ebay and use the money for the places you do want to go.

If you go abroad don't buy travel insurance from Tour operator, we went for a week last year, got insurance through moneysupermarket.com for £16 for 4 for 1 week.

MrsWho · 13/05/2007 15:19

Oh Travel insurance is sometimes included in bank accounts, as is AA or RAC membership.

Make sure you have cash rather than having to find a machine and using the ones that charge

Keep some change ready for car parks so you don't have to over pay (and the bl**dy machine keeps the change)
