Just got a bill through - £272.00. I am sure it used to be about £100 ish a year, this seems abit steep - or is that what it is now? (South East Water by the way)

I'm with SE Water and my rates for this year were about £263 I think. We pay monthly by direct debit.

portonovo · 08/05/2007 16:39

For water and sewage, I pay £460 a year. So I'll swap if you like!

Quootiepie · 08/05/2007 16:40

oh, ok then - I must have been very young when I last looked at a bill!

So are my water bills the dearest then?

Anyone else?

I'm in the south-west.

MrsWho · 09/05/2007 14:16

£17 a month here.

BrownSuga · 09/05/2007 14:18

£220 per year in the north east, paid 6mthly

portonovo · 09/05/2007 15:53

Still feeling very hard done-by here. £46 a month for 10 months is heaps more than you're all paying.

jdd0709 · 09/05/2007 15:57

What!!!!

I have just moved into a new rented house in Sutton and East Surrey Water area and the annual bill is:

£660.29 !!!!!!!!!!!

When I complained they said that this is the fixed price for the poperty based on rateable values supplied by the council wtf they are because the property is unmetered. Previously we lived in a metered property of the same size and our annual bills were about £400. What a piss take - apparently all I can do is ask the lettings agent to ask the landlords whether we can install a meter which will take up to 3 months.

Think that's blown you all out of the water, so to speak. I tell you what, if there is another drought order like last year I will be buying the biggest swimming pool I can find and bathing in it every day!

cece · 09/05/2007 16:01

£23 per month and on a meter but last time I checked the figures against the actual meter we had overpaid.

geekgrrl · 09/05/2007 16:11

£550 here but not paying for drainage (we have a septic tank - gets emptied once a year for £80)

FeelingOldnGrey · 09/05/2007 16:33

£46.00 per month for 10 months here too
I am awaiting a call to arrange a water meter.
I did a thread about getting a water meter and some funny MNer asked if we had a high fibre diet in the south west...LOL! must do eh?!

FeelingOldnGrey · 09/05/2007 16:34

in fact, no its higher than that. Let me check...

jdd0709 · 09/05/2007 16:46

No I think we're just cleaner and take more baths and showers .... just joking.

What really annoys me is having to pay for the same water twice.

Bellie · 09/05/2007 16:50

If we were on water rates it would be over £1000 per year - Sutton and East Surrey Water. When we moved in I nearly had a heart attack!
We changed to a water meter and it is now £24 a month!

Jdd - we were also told that it could take 3 months for a meter to be installed - it actually took 2 weeks!

FeelingOldnGrey · 09/05/2007 16:53

Bellie - its criminal the amount you would be paying. How can they justify it?

Bellie · 09/05/2007 16:59

No idea especially as we were on drought restrictions for most of last year too!!

jdd0709 · 09/05/2007 17:02

Oh I must ask the lettings agent for permission to install a meter then - it is ludicrous as from what I can gather rates is some ancient thing from before even council tax or poll tax so it must be really out of date and inaccurate. It really is a F&&&&%joke considering you couldn't wash your car, fill a pool or water your lawn for most of the last 2 years. I wonder if there's a connection ......

Bellie · 09/05/2007 17:08

jdd - definately ask!
