Credit worthiness check- what is this?

We are thinking of moving into a new flat owned by a private landlord. He has asked for my bank details so he can do a credit worthiness check- does anyone know what this means?

I have rung my bank and they said its to make sure credits are going into the bank on a regualr basis.

i have not got a sparkling credit score but I have always paid my rent on time and have ample going into the bank each month to cover the rent and bills.

has nayone heard of this? do they give credit refernce information out too?

i don;t think he needs your bank details....pay slips would prove regualr income etc....credit scoring is not done by the bank

hmm thats what I thought- as long as they don't do a credit check I will be laughing- can afford the rent and bills and would never jepordise my DS's home- I was just silly at Uni pre kid and pre worry!

God if I only knew then what I know now!

we didn't have to provide anything like that. We needed a character ref and that was it.

Don't hand over your bank details. Tell him your bank told you not to as it would invalidate your ability to claim off them if anythhing went missing - or something.

they should need deposit character ref or last few wage slips.

No way would I hadn over bank details. He can credit check without them.
