Housing benefit change in circumstances

Hello im wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation.
I've been receiving housing benefit for a number of years after a relationship breakdown. A few years ago my rent went down by £20 So I told the council at the time.
It was a verbal agreement between my self and landlord so he never gave an updated tenancy agreement.
Last year I went back to work and so updated the council about my change in circumstance straight away. During this process it came to light that the council not only had no record of my rent changes nor did they have record of my second child being born which i had provided at the time. I have always had to top my rent up as the benefit didn't cover my entire rent. So I'm not convinced ive been overpayed.
The lady dealing with my case didn't process any of my new circumstances until I phoned. She has stopped any payments until I provide proof of changes from years ago. Which i don't have due to bank change. I'm worried I will be in trouble because they have no proof of changes, even though I had provided evidence of rent changes back then.

£20 a week or month? And dies having a secondition child entitle you to more in the way of housing benefit? Could you ask your landlord if they still have proof of what you paid?

It changed by £20 per month but I still had to top up to make the full amount, having a second child didn't change the entitlement as far as I'm aware. I have asked my landlord but he's dragging his feet and has now put my rent up by £45 a month. I'm stressing as I done everything they told me but they have no record of it :(
