CMS & Deduction of Earnings

Hi everyone. After 8 long years and so far £18K in CSA arrears, I finally got the new CMS to agree to a deduction of earnings order from the ex. My first payment was due two weeks ago, but now they are saying they can no longer locate him. What does this mean? Has he left his job? Gone back to cash in hand/self-employed? I'm frustrated that they gave him 3 months notice that they were going to start this process as now he has gone AWOL again. Now what can I do? I manage without the money, but it would certainly help!

Been in your position! It means he is no longer employed where they knew he was, they might not know where he has gone. Do you have any contact with him? Could you find out from family/friends what he is doing and tell them? If he has started another job PAYE then they will catch up with him through the tax office, but it can take a couple of months. My ex did this for years, until he realised that they do eventually find him and the only thing he was damaging was his own career, I have now had 4 years of regular payments after 11 years of nothing.
