Anyone else been transferred from Woolwich to shitty Barclays?

Pure useless. Despite sending me two letters giving me passwords/new a/c nos, I just called their telephone banking line and my balance was £0, and I know it's not. Grrrr. Who said I wanted Barclays anyway?

We were with the Woolwich too -haven't ever had dealings with Barclays before as they were boycotted in my student days so I've always had a negative impression of them.

Time will tell........

This has come about from Barclays buying out Woolwich a few years back. They basically sat on the acquisition for a few years but are now switching everything over I believe. Some of my clients have been switched over to Barclays and like you (and me) they are not too happy about it.
I think eventually all Woolwich accounts will be Barclays accounts.
Betty, I too boycotted them in my student days and have had a negative impression of them since.

So - and this is from someone who's been a SAHM for nearly 10yrs - do you do anything about it? I had my old NatWest (in my maiden name running concurrently with this one). Will it be a big deal to change over what they've done?

I guess it should all transfer over smoothly, perhaps there were no funds in the account because it had not been activated yet?
Carry on using the existing stuff if you can, until they say otherwise.
I did have a good old moan at someone at the Woolwich today saying this is going to cause a lot of confusion and will alienate Barclays Bank. Gits...

BettySpaghetti · 17/05/2007 13:23

AAARRRRGGGHHHH !!

Smooth transfer ? My ar$e!

On-line banking -doesn't work, won't let us access it with the PIN they provided, we've now got to wait for them to send us a new PIN by post.
My debit card -tried to use it the other day but "Not Authorised" came up.

BikeBug · 17/05/2007 13:29

our mortgage is with Woolwich - I would never have used Barclays. I banked with them as a student (should have boycotted them then) and they were so rude to me I swore I'd never use them for anything again after I closed my account. And now I've got my mortgage with them. Time to shop around. I loathe Barclays (grudge bearing, moi?)

lou33 · 17/05/2007 13:29

i'm with the woolwich

i just know it wont go smoothly knowing my luck

BettySpaghetti · 17/05/2007 13:35

BikeBug -our mortgage was with the Woolwich, OpenPlan so also had current accounts too.

I really do not want to be with Barclays either so we'll be shopping around too.

Lou -have a Plan B in case it doesn't go smoothly especially if you are dependent on their current account. Luckily I had (only just) enough cash with me when my card was rejected the other day otherwise we'd be hungry now.

mrspink27 · 17/05/2007 13:37

me to, ours not happening till 2o something of June... already been into my branch informing them I will be taking myu account elsewhere... want to be a building society customer with a decent rate of interest not a barclays customer with a paltry rate. They are proposing to change my a/c from a high interest one with a bonus interest if you save every month to a standard ac... grrr... glad it isnt just me!

mrspink27 · 17/05/2007 13:39

I was a barclays boycotter to! I dont want to be a barclays customer now either!

lou33 · 17/05/2007 13:40

i dont have a plan b

all my money goes into the current account!

time to take some out for an emergency?

BettySpaghetti · 17/05/2007 13:41

It might be an idea Lou just in case they cock-up and you get a card but no PIN or something.

lou33 · 17/05/2007 13:48
