I lost my job in December, received my first Universal Credit payment today, all good right? Nope.

My last payment from my last job went in back in December, paid my rent with that.

Universal credit comes in today, over £150+ short. Turns out they took my last pay check and deducted that from my Universal Credit... I now have £20 to live this month, yes I live with my mum but I still have to pay keep and everything, my phone bill, etc.

I don’t know what to do, I feel like just going out & saying fuck it all and just ending it.

I don’t know what to do, please help me SadSad

Please talk to your mum, tell her your predicament.
Phone or visit citizens advice centre, they will be able to check your amount!!
Hope your mum gives you a big hug and lets you of the rent, I would do the same for my children..
Hope you find a new job soon, hope this helps.
Talk to your friends, family etc ☕

If the payment from work was paid during your assessment period then it will be counted as income and your UC reduced accordingly. Could you try contacting UC and ask for an advance ? This can be paid back gradually from future payments. Please ring and ask about this. hope things work out with you.

Hope you have spoken to your mum, and CAB.

Fingers crossed you get something sorted out soon.

Hugs

Take a deep breath and then another. Speak to your mum to discuss how you feel and if she can help. It may not be the easiest month but it will pass as this situation is only temporary. Next month the UC payment will be the proper amount or you may have found a new job. Please don’t despair or act rashly.
