Accountant hasn't filed my tax return!

I live abroad but do a paper uk tax return myself as was told by tax office I couldn't do it online.
Last year I contacted my accountant from years ago to do y return as I had sold a property in the uk.
So he did, and emailed me a copy for approval which I did and he said he would file it.

Now I have a letter saying I must go online by end if month to do a return.

I have been emailing my accountant, phoning for two weeks now but no answer.

And I can't logon to my account as it's not recognizing my I.D number.
Spoke to tax office but they were not very helpful.

it isn't the tax office's problem, I'm afraid. If your accountant has disappeared/died it is yours. You are probably too late to file online so you'll get fined, but start the process anyway by asking for your details to be reset.

then sue the accountant for the costs separately.

What can the tax office do? You need to request new login details. It can only be posted and takes about 2 weeks but you don’t really have any other option.

Have requested new details now.
