Any reasons given?

wheresthel1ght · 12/12/2017 20:50

Haven't seen your thread. What are the reasons given?

Most will cover you even with medical issues but they will do assessments and doctor referrals and will charge you a higher premium

starshaker · 12/12/2017 20:52

I regret to inform you that after careful consideration of all the evidence available, Zurich are unable to offer you insurance cover due to medical reasons disclosed on your application.

thats what i got back, also the same from a few others.

My previous post was about me riding a motorbike

Did you just apply online?
There are specialist companies depending on what your medical symptoms are

PersianCatLady · 12/12/2017 20:56

Depends what the issues are, no one is going to sell life insurance to someone who has been given a terminal cancer diagnosis, for example.

There isn't enough information in your posts to answer your question properly.

wheresthel1ght · 12/12/2017 20:56

i would go into a recognised broker like Swinton and speak to them or ring direct.

WillowWept · 12/12/2017 20:57

It depends what your health issues are. You may find a broker can assist.

starshaker · 12/12/2017 21:00

My medical issues are anxiety, depression, ptsd and suicidal thoughts. I wouldn't act on them because of the kids but they are always there

Many providers would find your conditions an unacceptable risk.

You need to see a specialist life insurance broker.

RandomMess · 12/12/2017 21:16

Hmmm I recently got life insurance with similar issues through Nationwide and erm I can't remember the other one. Fortunately I have a death in service payout as well as existing mortgage protection!

Viviennemary · 12/12/2017 23:16

You just have to keep trying other insurance brokers. Do you really need life insurance.

starshaker · 13/12/2017 07:24

I was told I was selfish and stupid not to have it

OP posts:
InDubiousBattle · 13/12/2017 07:28

Do you have children/other dependents? Pension with death in service payout? You might not need it?

Undercoverbanana · 13/12/2017 07:33

I don't have life insurance either. Never thought about it tbh.

BrieAndChilli · 13/12/2017 07:34

I always thought life insurance didn’t pay out if you committed sucide? Precisely to stop people taking out expensive cover and then killing them selves so thier family gets the money

Bingeslayer · 13/12/2017 07:35

I have life insurance with legal and general, disclosed depression etc, even covered by suicide after first year.

annandale · 13/12/2017 07:38

My Dhabi is uninsurable too. We tried via the specialist insurers recommended by Mind, so that's worth a go, or talk to a broker. No online quote will insure you but it's worth trying those other routes.

Wishingandwaiting · 13/12/2017 07:42

Go to a broker
They should also be able to get you a better deal

nhsworker123 · 13/12/2017 07:44

My broker set me up with Cirencester.

Undercoverbanana · 13/12/2017 07:47

What do you need life insurance for OP? This has got me thinking. (It's good for me to have something to focus on right now.)

MaverickSnoopy · 13/12/2017 07:48

Use a broker, they can be very good at this sort of thing. I agree you should persist with getting insurance, it's brings immense peace of mind.

starshaker · 13/12/2017 08:02

I was told it Was irresponsible because I ride a motorbike and when I kill myself in an accident my children will be left penniless. I dont have a mortgage or a pension. Im on disability benefits.

OP posts:
MaidenMotherCrone · 13/12/2017 08:06

You were told you were being selfish and stupid (not by me) because you have started riding a motorbike. Posters were concerned because you have small/dependent children, no partner/ no support/ no family to step in should the worse happen.

Posters were concerned with your lack of planning for your children which we all should have in place regardless of motorbikes etc.

You didn't see the point in having a will or life insurance.

I'm glad you are taking steps to do so.

AnneElliott · 13/12/2017 08:33

Do you have health issues? If so you need a specialist insurer. Ours is partnership as DH has a heart condition.

Sunseed · 13/12/2017 11:17

Speak to a broker. They will search all the insurance companies to try to find one that will be prepared to offer you terms individually tailored to you. The premiums may be increased to reflect the higher risk that you might be considered to present, or they may be able to offer you a policy with exclusions, e.g. won't pay out if cause of death was directly due to pre-existing medical conditions but would if the cause of death was unrelated, such as cancer, say.
