Tax Credits renewal packs....................

when do they get sent out.

Just called them as DH got his P60 today.......and lets just say I don't think we'll get anything off them this tax year - we completely forgot to factor in the fact that the previous tax year both of us only worked for 6 months of it.........so we've been WELL overpaid this year .

Wanted to tell them so they stop/reduce the payments ASAP but was told I would have to wait for the renewal pack before they could do anything. Of course that means while we're waiting we're going to continue being paid..........

So - has anyone got theirs yet - and if not do you know when they are sent out. (woman on the phone was not very helpful)

Man on the phone told me in the next few weeks. They used to send out to those on income support first and those who got the most money.

Apparantly I was overpaid but since I earnt less than I expected too I probably haven't but while the computer recalculates I am paying back the overpayment

You don't have to continue to get paid if you will earn too much just tell them your income this year is going to be much higher. They can't take the p60 figures for last year until you have you pack (would make no dfference anyway you've been paid that money already) but hey can and should fix your estimates for this year.

how do you pay back the overpayments they've paid you?

I don't think i can afford to give them money I'm hoping they'll just keep this years money or somethng?

paddingtonbear1 · 24/04/2007 08:56

luc I suspect that's what they will do. I suspect we've been overpaid too - not by much but I don't want to pay it back in one go!
actually I don't think we renewed last year, and I thought that meant the payments would stop - but a while later I realised they hadn't!

MrsWho · 24/04/2007 21:33

They take up to 20% off this years payments (think they aren't allowed to take more but occaisionally they do)

fannyannie · 24/04/2007 21:35

oh well - not really too bothered - I'd budgeted this years monthly outgoings based on NO tax credits at all.....so if we still get a little something it's better than nothing LOL.
