Income support and sure start maternity grant

Hello everyone,

Just wondering if anyone knows if I have to wait until I get accepted for income support to send off for my maternity grant or can I send it before I've heard back from them?

I personally would wait. You have a chunk of time after the birth to claim if I remember right.
