I gave up my car - second family car and can cope with walking/cycling/public transport/car club now the kids are older. However I had over 20 years no claims bonus. I'm a named driver on the other policy but how to I protect my no claims bonus? Thanks!

It stays valid for 2 years even if you don't have a car

Its valid for 2 years and if you were to get a car after the 2 years then you would start again with a zero no claims bonus

We used to have one car between us.

We used to alternate the insurance. So one year he'd insure the car under his name (with me as named driver) and then the next year I'd insure it under my name (with him as named driver).

This way we each kept up our individual no claims history.

Thanks everyone, think we will alternate the insurance like you suggested Popchyk. At least I wont lose it that way. thanks again.
