Gas central heating and hot water, but thats it, everything else is electric, cooker, dryer etc.

I've just checked what we pay (direct debit every month) and was a bit that it comes to £130 a month! Don't know if we are in credit or debit with them at the moment though...

NuttyMuffins · 10/04/2007 12:07

Blimey, thats alot more than I am paying now.

we have a 3bed semi and it is £100 a month

lizziemun · 10/04/2007 12:41

We pay £44 per month for gas - heating and cooking. For electric we pay £87 - buti would say that high as dh works in IT and has LOTS of computers and servers thingy's which have to be on 24 hours a day 7 days aweek.

yaddayah · 10/04/2007 12:47

Gas £54
Electric £84 (just gone up was £55 last month)

Two years ago we were paying £34 x 2 [shock}

Three year old "link detatched" 4 bed house, so should be fairly well insulated ..

Half the bulbs are eco friendly (we replace them as the old ones blow) but the kitchen's and bathrooms use halogen spotlights

Try not to use the tumbledryer all the time.. but with two kids

Heating is on for a couple of hours in the morning and evening

HTH

We pay £110 per month for gas and electric for a 1930s 4-bed semi. That's with a really ancient (1970s) inefficient boiler.

NuttyMuffins · 10/04/2007 13:50

Very worried now. Am coming off pre payment meters as I was told it is cheaper to have normal meters, but I only pay a maximum of £40 a month electric and £60 a month gas, and usually it is less than that.

Me putting up £20 a week isn't gonna cover it then by the sounds of it

Very cheap

jofeb04 · 10/04/2007 17:28

Omg at some of the bills you pay!
We spend 48punds on gas (as we didn't pay for while, and this will go down quite alot later in the year!
About 30pounds for electric! (that is meter though).

We live in a 3 bedroom end of terrace with gas centeral heating, and a gas hob, but everything else is electric!

Millarkie · 10/04/2007 17:31

£88 for us (combined) - but we have new gas boiler which made a big difference and dh has insulated every pipe in the house - loads of loft insulation, double glazing etc.
That's for 4 bed victorian terrace.

NuttyMuffins · 10/04/2007 17:31

I don't think I can check online CC, as I have nothing to compare it too, It won't compare pre payment meter amounts etc.

oxocube · 10/04/2007 17:35

jofeb04, tell me . The worst thing was last year when we were paying only 130 eu a month then we got an end of year bill for 1,300!!! And no, we are definitely not well off esp at the moment as DH is out of work

jofeb04 · 10/04/2007 17:51

Oxocube,
We only use gas for the centeral heating and hob, that's all, andobv don't use the heating all year.
We use about one pound electric per day. Don't use a clothes dryer much (maybe threetimes a week), and don't use it in warm months.
We only turn lights on when we are using them but that's the only main thing tbh!

cece · 10/04/2007 17:55

You all pay so much

I pay by DD and it is £56 a month for gas and electricity. 4 bed detached house. We do hgave a brand new condensing boiler, cook with electricity and have gas for heating and hot water. With Powergen dual fuel and run it online account.

hertsnessex · 10/04/2007 17:56

we pay 100ish a month

oxocube · 10/04/2007 17:56

jofebo4, we have central heating to all rooms, but on a timer, and a gas hob but I do use the tumble dryer about 4-5 times most weeks and we run at least 1 bath every day as well as showers. At least summer has come early

charliecat · 10/04/2007 18:42

nutty what company is it, just to compare between its prepayment and bill prices.

Tinker · 10/04/2007 18:47

3-bed semi here and it's £47 combined gas and electric. Last house was 2-bed mid terrace and was about twice that. This is a Plastic Land house though.

Tinker · 10/04/2007 18:48

This is Scottish Power as well.
