Bloody House buyers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are selling our house atm, and it did need quite a bit of work doing to it, such as laminate flooring laid, internal doors replacing, decorated, new skirting boards. Just to make it look appealing.

Estate agent phoned on Weds evening all excited saying, we have a couple who are 1st time buyers, and they are very very interested and as long as they don't see anything major wrong they will put in an offer. They want to come on EASTER Sunday at 1pm!

So we have absolutely killed ourselves since Thurs (dh booked time off work) all day and all evening (when kids in bed) up till 1am each morning to get it looking really nice, we have wasted 3 days of sunshine by staying in (and keeping the kids in) i have had a 3 YO and 8 Mth old to see to as well, and been up since 7am this morning cleaning and guess what????

THEY DIDN'T FRIGGIN TURN UP!!!!!!!

I am soooooo pissed off it is unbelievable, why do people do this? why is a short simple phone call to the agent not possible?

Oh Pucca I feel for you. We are trying to sell atm too. We had a couple round who were full of enthusiasim for our house and said they would put in an offer the next day to the estate agent - I got all excited as they had sold theirs to someone from London who was a cash buyer - and we never heard anymore. Estate Agent couldn't even contact them to get feedback!

Its crap trying to sell your house and you have my deepest sympathy and yes we have had those nights up unti 1am trying to clean everything.

tribpot · 08/04/2007 14:22

bloody annoying. In fairness, perhaps something cropped up today and they couldn't get hold of the agent?

Other than enjoying your shiny house, would this be a good time to get the agents back to take some new pics to show how lovely it looks?

Sympathies - I've been dealing with the Sellers From Hell recently so it can be rough all over, house buying sucks!

Hating this house selling already, and the agent is hopeless, we have had them "send" 3 lots of viewers and only 1 turned up, they have you though as in the contract it means we can't go with any other agent for 6 months.

So tired after running round like a loony for 3 days

try to look on the bright side - you saved a fortune and hours sitting in traffic by staying at home over easter , and now your house is so clean and shiny that it must be great to sit in it and admire it!! Our house is constantly full of dust from builder hubby who doesn't take his boots off when he comes home - but he takes them off at the door to anyone elses house!!
Sorry, nearly thread hike.
My outlaws have been trying to sell a house for a year, not in the best place and really badly renovated, the stories of the people turning up and them getting all excited thinking its about to sell, its getting really irritating now. The last one to let them down was a foreigner saying he had a mortage in place, then no mortgage cos he didn't have a work permit, then (the house is empty they moved to their retirement house at seaside) their neighbour said he saw people coming and going, turned out the 'buyer' had somehow got his own keys, estate agent denied all knowledge, outlaws went mad, buyer dropped offer, said he would pay full when fil apologised for insulting him, but would not want to pay till JULY!!! It goes on and on. I only tell you this to a) get it off my chest as I can't smirk to hubby about his parents shenanigans, and b) so that next time a normal buyer comes round you will feel soooo lucky that they are just nice people!!!

pucca - could you go multi-agency? It normally costs a bit extra but might be worth it if it means you actually get to sell the house.

We were let down by our sellers two days before exchange. After fannying about for months, they repeatedly changed their mind about whether they'd move into rented to allow us to exchange (we're in rented on a fixed lease). With five to go before the lease expired, they said "oh yeah, when we spent the whole of last weekend convincing you we were serious about moving into rented [inc offering to put a thousand quid bond down] we weren't".

Then the next weekend, after we'd had an offer accepted on a house with sane owners, the guy turned up at my door and said they'd still like to proceed. WTF? Also informed me they couldn't possibly move to rented with a baby. Like he didn't know full well we live in a rented house with our baby. He offered 3 grand off the agreed price but only if we'd exchange to suit him - pointed out that this meant he could string us along for more months and then still pull out 2 days before exchange.

That is so rude. No doubt you will be on to the agent (not his fault) but pass a message through him to the buyers to make them feel guilty.

vimfuego · 08/04/2007 18:06

At least you have an immaculate house I suppose.

pucca · 08/04/2007 18:59

Thanks everyone

Yes we have a immaculate house, but it prob won't stay like this long with dd the tazmanian devil

We have signed a contract with them now, actually only went through them as the house we are buying is through them too, just want ours to get a offer then we can put in a formal offer on the house we want iykwim as at the min our "dream" house is still up for sale and would be absolutely gutted if someone else (who doesn't have a house to sell) went and offered on it.

They hopefully will send some properly interested viewers soon as our house is actually the cheapest they have on atm, we have worked liked dogs to get the house done for today 1pm and just now feel so deflated.
