Virgin Money - Unclaimed Assets - likely to be genuine or not?

I'm totally puzzled to receive a letter today about unclaimed assets/ dormant savings account. I have no recollection of ever having an account with them. There's a form to return with proof of id.
Is it likely to be a scam? Should I really send off ordinal photo id?
Thanks for any comments.

Maybe look it up on google and ring virgin from their number on their website to check.

Virgin bought Northern Rock so I wonder if the account could have been with them?

It's probably a scam, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't investigate it. Definitely ring the number from their website.

Also if there is a phone number on the letter, google it. Someone else will have also received the letter

Although another mner posted saying she'd come in to a lot of money and wanted to share with her friend and was going to come up with a similar idea to give it to her no strings attached.

Maybe you're the friend!

Tribpot - now that could explain things! (Northern Rock)
