Can nursery ask for money two years later?

I have two dc, youngest left nursery in July, eldest finished two years ago.

Email from nursery today, saying they have been going back over our account (as they have had problem with their bookkeeper) and they think we owe £350! Some of which goes back to when they were both there.

We have always paid the invoices on time (some of which we had to query, as they were often wrong). So - how long in time are they allowed to go back and say they were mistaken? How can they prove we owe them, or how can we prove they don't? We don't have paperwork going back that far.

I'm up for leaving it and they can whistle!

Have you got copies of all the invoices sent to you?

They have up to 6 years to pursue a debt through the courts after which time they can't so in effect if you don't acknowledge it after that time they have no way of pursuing it.

I would write back just stating that as far as you are concerned you have paid in full and that there are no sums outstanding.

Thanks guys. They started emailing invoices about 6 months ago - before that it was paper, don't have those.

If they calculated the invoice wrong - with the EY dIscount, holidays, sibling discount etc and we paid it, on time - can they then change their minds? I think they are fishing, and won't pursue it through the courts. I would give them some grace, but not two years!
