Tax credits: income reduction

I'm about to apply for tax credits due to a significant drop in income due to maternity leave. Filling in the form it asks for last year's income. Do I fill that in then call them up to update for this year?

Yes fill it in then when they send you a NIL award, you ring them up and ask for your 2017-18 award to be based on your lower estimated income.
