Anyone had to make complaint to BT?

To cut a long story short i have been having problems with broadband. After months of unsuccessful conversations with their Indian Technical Help Desk they sent an engineer round. He fixed the problem. I then got an £85.00 charge. I treid to ring on hold for 25 min give up and e mailed. The reply was useless however i was more concerned that they had included my complaint with phone no home and mobile, account no, email etc on a reply to another customer. I am in the process of trying to get someone to take the responsibility for this as i belive it is a breech of the data protection act. I am being passed from pillar to post, have spoken to two managers who all pass me on to someone else. Last night i spent 32 min on hold before giving up. Any advice at all would be much appreciated as i am at my wits end. PS am i right to be cross with this or should i just let it go ?

You're totally right to be so annoyed and it is a breach of the DPA. Have you tried contacting them on 0114 2024150 (customer services), haven't tried it myself but it's clearly a UK number. Threaten to go to press & Watchdog, etc.

We've had a saga reconnecting to BT Broadband when moving house and have been given the following address to complain to :-

Ardroy House
PO Box 5965
Alnes
Rosshire
IV17 OPH

Good luck

Thanks haven't got that address Liz. Was thinking of Watchdog myself nuttygirl but wasn't sure it was serious enough. Have threatened press on emails.

You're very right to be cross with it. BT are dreadful, also had problems with them when we moved. In previous house my line used to just go dead for no reason. On one occasion, my line went dead, I was alone in teh house without a mobile, I had to wait until teh next day to call form a call box. Was told that I should have called the previous night if I wanted it fixing earlier than the 36 hours they told me. When I explained why I couldn't call the night before was told "That's not my problem" (UK call centre, I should add). Hate them

ive been trying for months to get them to listen to me too.ive had broadband for 6 months now,and its been nothing but hassle.everytime i ring i get through to india, and, sorry but i find it hard to understand them most of the time.they left me with no phone or internet and wouldnt reduce my bill!

alot of hassle and very bad customer relations IMO
