You know what..I don't want people knowing what I do and when? How do you go all Thom Yorke and avoid being 'watched'?

How many databases am I on? Is someone watching where I shop? Why have I taken so long to get all ranty?
We had to replace our phone & went to the shop to purchase a new one. BUT the shop assistant was very insistent that he couldn't sell me a phone until I gave a load of personal details! Well...this got me really riled and now I'm looking at who knows what about me in a very paranoid way.
Where can I go on the net to find out more about it and do any of you have the same concerns? (or is that an incredibly stoopid queston?)
Does this route lead to cancelling direct debits and asking to be paid in cash etc?

I don't want people knowing what i'm doing either. Why have they started to do all this? Mad.
And raising council tax depending on what you got in your house.
We rent, it's not our fault this house has double glazing, or a conservatory!!

i try to avoid banging my head against brick walls, generally. not always successful mind.

lots of people know a hell of a lot about all of us. think is just a reality now. dont think worrying about it is any good for you...or will do anything to stop it.

does that help?

thought not.

NO nectar cards and the like for a start.

use cash helps an awful lot.

Twiglett · 09/03/2007 23:13

when you give details over phone state clearly and explicity that you don't want to be on a database

tick all refuse boxes on databases

register with tps and direct mail equivalent

don't use credit cards, loyalty cards

Oh, but everyone having to have ID cards will keep us all so much safer.... And the Government needs to be able to look at all our internet communications to make sure that we're not viewing any nasty pornography...and if we want to buy mobile phones they have to make sure we don't look a bit foreign or have any friends who do, or we might want those mobile phones to trigger bombs with....

It freaks me that Sainsbury's sends me vouchers for money off things they think I'll be interested on the basis of what I've bought previously instore. The only way surely they could know this is from the reward card isn;t it? I've cut it up and chucked it.
